International PhD Scholarship in Governance and Policy Analysis, Netherlands Founded in 1976, Universiteit Maastricht (Maastricht University) is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the large town of Maastricht (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), Limburg. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Ministerie van Onderwijs, Cultuur en Wetenschap, Nederland (Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, Netherlands), Universiteit Maastricht (UM) is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 15,000-19,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. Universiteit Maastricht (UM) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 43 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations and students' past academic record and grades. Application Process

  • How to Apply: In order to apply for the opportunity, candidates are required to take part in a PhD degree program at the university. After that, they must have to submit the online application form.
  •  Supporting Documents: You must submit all the following documents:
  • Certified copies of bachelor’s and master’s diplomas and grades
  • Proof of proficiency in English –  the minimum level accepted is 600 PBT, 100 ICT or 240 CBT (TOEFL) or 7.0 (IELTS). Native speakers and students who have received their bachelor’s or master’s education in English are exempted
  • Motivation letter (400- 500 words)
  • Two signed reference letters on original letterhead (by current or former professors or employers)
  • Admission Requirements: To study at UNU-MERIT, students will need to meet the academic entry requirements for their course.
  • Language Requirement: All candidates must have proficiency in English, with a minimum level of 600 PBT / 240 CBT / 100 IBT for the TOEFL or 7.0 for the IELTS (native speakers of English and students who received their Bachelor’s or Master’s education in English are exempt). Maastricht University’s TOEFL code is 7102.
