UEL are proud to present a new PhD award in collaboration with the Stuart Hall Foundation. Inspired by the life and work of Professor Stuart Hall, the Stuart Hall Foundation seeks to support new generations of creative thinkers to challenge the status quo and provoke original thinking, debate and research, illuminating connections between race, culture, migration and society. We welcome expressions of interest from students dedicated to the mission and ethos of the Foundation, and are looking to a strong collaboration between our Schools of Arts & Digital Industries and Social Sciences.

Offered Benefits

The studentship is for a period of three years with a maintenance allowance of £16,510, plus a training bursary of £2,000. The candidate will be expected to register at the start of the autumn term 2017.

Applicants from outside the UK/EU are eligible to apply for the studentships on the strict understanding that the difference in costs for tuition fees is payable by the candidate or sponsor.

We will also accept proposals from any students who have funding/sponsorship in place or are considering self funding their studies. This must be stated clearly on the application.
